Creative Writing Workshop – Write Across The Border

Wednesday 16th May 7.15 pm

Poetry reaches the unsaid and leaves it unsaid.” Etel Adnan (Sea and Fog, Nightboat Books 2012)

This creative writing workshop uses sound and language to generate new writing.  All writing is a journey from idea to page, from one form to another. Every new piece we write takes us across a border. We will be travelling in the imagination, away from literal meaning and ‘translating’ things we don’t yet understand.

Free event. All levels of experience welcome, prose and poetry.

Border Lines – Queer Writers Show & Tell evening with refreshments Wednesday 23rd May 7.30pm

Have you ever changed the pronouns to a song? When you watch a film are you hero or heroine? Neither? Who is your role model?

Who or what inspires us? How do we tell our stories, create our own meanings, when mainstream culture ignores or distorts our lives?

An opportunity to read out new work, share ideas and influences with other Queer writers in a friendly atmosphere.

Bring two short pieces of writing, one of your own and one by someone else, ideally with spare copies to share but this not essential. Free event. All levels of experience welcome, prose and poetry. Open to anyone who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
